Usually it’s Drake’s soulful crooning which gets us hella emotional, but this time it’s his response to a social media campaign that asked for his attention that’s hit us right in the feels.

17-year-old British student Jamal Ottun tragically passed away last week while on a rugby tour. Seeing as Drake was his favourite musician, his friends and family started the #DrakeNoticeJamal hashtag on social media to ask the rapper for a tribute to the late fan.

According to Buzzfeed, there were well over 30,000 Tweets using the hashtag, while Drake’s Instagram account was flooded with people joining the movement. And just a few hours ago, their prayers were answered: Drake posted a picture of Jamal on his Instagram account, along with a caption reading “Heard this young man was a big fan. Rest In Peace Jamal. Watch over me from way up above!”

It just goes that while most of the Facebook comment sections consist of people writing each other off from the safety of a keyboard, there is enormous power for social media to do good in this world.

Heard this young man was a big fan. Rest In Peace Jamal. Watch over me from way up above!
