Definitely a good op…

Elon Musk is definitely not one to lie, his super-genius brain being simply incapable of hiding his true thoughts and feelings, especially when it comes to his baby, the Tesla. Keeping in line with his reputation of being a straight shooter, Musk has noted during a recent earnings call with Tesla investors that “Teslas are not affordable”. But Musk has an idea to make his car more accessible to those in lower tax brackets, and it’s safe to say we’re definitely on board.

Specifically, his solution is to develop the Tesla Model 2, a lower-end vehicle which will be designed and built in Germany. The car will be taking on the “European-style hatchback”, and will be a direct competitor to the compact hybrids that run at lower-end of the car pricing end. To give you context, the Model 3, one of the cheapest possible Teslas, starts at $37,990 USD ($52,876 AUD), so anything cheaper would be a super welcome edition.

“It is important to make the car affordable. Like the thing that bugs me the most about where we are right now is that our cars are not affordable enough. We need to fix that,” he said on the call. “We want to be slightly positive and maximise growth, and make the cars as affordable as possible.”

Damn straight, they should be affordable to all people, not just corporate executive trying to flex on their colleagues, or that occasional random Uber driver that’s picking you and your mates up from the city at 3am…
