It’s safe to say we’re all missing kicking back with our mates at the pub, downing a couple of bevs while just enjoying the simple things in life. With lockdown and iso taking over our lives, it’s definitely a pastime we’re missing wholeheartedly. But it looks like we’re not gonna get back to those beautiful days for quite a while, with experts saying that pubs and bars are likely to stay closed throughout winter.
“Unfortunately I don’t think until September this year at the earliest,” Peter Collignon, a professor of microbiology at Australian National University said. “Winter is coming and that is our next big risk time – for all respiratory viruses, including this one”.
Federal Health Minister Greg Hunt also said that arvos at the pub won’t be returning any time soon, commenting “Even when that decision is made, there may still be significant measures to maintain social distancing and to support good hygiene”.
Looks like we’re gonna have to wait a whole while longer, no doubt that first night back at the pub after all this is really gonna hit different…
