You remember all those memes with the caption “caught the Coronavirus” with a photo of a bunch of guys drinking Coronas together? Looks like the influx of Corona related humour with the increasing seriousness of the pandemic has started to really affect sales, as panic buyers across the world are buying every beer except, you guessed it, Corona Extra.
They were actually predicted to have increased sales with the “positive buzz” they were receiving during the earlier stages of the crisis, according to YouGov data, with it being the main beer on everyones minds.
However, as time has gone on and the pandemic has worsened, it’s safe to say people are just a bit put off the refreshing light beer right now. Justified? Probably not, the beer doesn’t contain the virus, but hey, people are gonna believe what they want during a crisis.
