The way of the future…

A kick-ass new plan has been revealed for Melbourne’s workers in the CBD. Specially, if all goes according to the ‘Fab Friday’ proposal (put forth by the Property Council of Australia) workers would get to clock off early on Fridays (4pm to be exact) to get them into more pubs, clubs and restaurants. To make things even better, workers would also get free public transport, with free coffee and breakfast being ordered for sites across the CBD.

Speaking on the motivation behind the proposal, Property Council Victorian executive director Danni Hunter explained “This idea is all about getting people back into the office on Fridays, attracting and making them excited to come back so then they’ll stay, go out for a drink, go shopping, see a show on Friday night.”

“We’re calling on CBD bosses to introduce a 4pm knock-off pledge, encouraging workers to leave the office together and either go for a walk through the city or enjoy a cheeky after-work drink. Covid has changed so many things about our life, but the joy of catching up in person with your colleagues and friends is irreplaceable and there’s no better place than in Melbourne’s CBD.”

The move comes as 75% of Melbournites are now allowed in their offices, however many are still opting to work from home, with only “24% of office workers back in the office in the CBD” as according to Hunter.

Let’s hope it catches on in Melbourne, then makes its way down to Sydney and other parts of the country so we can all start our weekends in the funnest way possible!
