In another instalment of fast food companies making it their life’s mission to drain our bank accounts, KFC has announced they’re incorporating drones into their delivery service. Partnering with drone company Wing, the service is currently being put to use in the South East Queensland suburbs of Woodridge, Slacks Creek, Underwood, Kingston, and Logan Central, but is reportedly set to expand to other locations as well.
As for the carrying of the drones, it’s looking like the sky sadly isn’t the limit, with it only being capable of carrying 1.5 kilograms total. Still, that’s a hell of a lot of chicken when you think about it.
Speaking on the new service, Chief Marketing Officer of KFC Australia Kristi Woolrych said in a statement, “Given the last 18 months, Australians have relied on delivery more and more, so it’s great to be making life easier for fans who want to get their hands on KFC in a flash. You know the future truly is here when you can get hot, fresh Kentucky Fried Chicken delivered by a drone from the click of a few buttons!”
The move comes almost ten years following the company first teasing drone servicing in 2013, way back when the idea of deliveries by air was a pipe dream at best.
There's been a lot of talk about drone delivery. Don't fret, we're thinking the same thing #WhenChickensFly pic.twitter.com/uuzwQS0353

Looks like the future is now. Keep an eye to the sky for those inevitable flying zinger boxes. We have a feeling they’ll be up there sooner rather than later.
