Seventeen years on from his shocking death in 2006 and it’s safe to say the love for wildlife conservationist Steve Irwin is as strong as ever. Whether it be national calls for his face to be put on the $5 note or A-Listers from across the world reminiscing on their love for the adored croc hunter, his presence is as strong as it was all of those years ago. a sentiment that was more apparent than ever yesterday on Instagram, with Irwin’s daughter Bindi taking to the social media platform to celebrate what would’ve been the homegrown hero’s 61st birthday.
Posting a nostalgic picture of the pair of them from when Bindi was a child, the 24-year-old wrote online, “Happy Birthday, Dad. Thank you for instilling a love for all species, courage to follow my heart and determination to make a difference in the world for wildlife and wild places. Your legacy lives on and the world is forever changed because of your dedication to conservation. Mum, Robert and I love and miss you so much.”
