You can’t make this stuff up…

Well, just when you’d thought you’d heard every ‘drunk’ story possible, a missing man in Turkey got so sideways he joined his own search party.

The hero was 50-year-old Beyhan Mutlu from a town in rural Turkey, who was out getting on the beers with his mates when he drifted off into a nearby forest… never to return. Okay he did, but only several hours later. Naturally, his friends were pretty worried about old mate, so much so that they called the authorities, who initiated a search and rescue party.

The team effort pulled in quite an impressive group of volunteers, with swarms of people from nearby neighbourhoods pulling rank to help find the poor bugger. One of those volunteers was none other than Mutlu himself. It’s unclear how he actually got out of the forest and joined the party, but we’re betting that their repeated screaming of his name probably helped.

It’s pretty hilarious how they realised the Turk was already there, the man suddenly speaking up and asking the group “Who are we looking for? I am here.”

And I thought my great Schoolies escapade of 2016 was the stuff of legends. Check out Mutlu trying to ‘find himself’ (literally, not in the Aussie backpacker on a gap year sort of way) below.
