In a celebrity crossover that absolutely no one saw coming, Lakers player LeBron James and Squid Game creator Hwang Dong-hyuk are apparently having quite the beef. Much like the legions of viewers who’ve made Squid Game one of Netflix’s biggest-ever titles, LeBron had some choice questions about the show’s lacklustre ending in a recent interview.
After admitting that the series creator needed to make room for an eventual season two, LeBron criticised the protagonists’ anticlimactic choice in the finale’s closing moments, asking “Like, what are you doing? Get on the f—— flight and go see your daughter, bro.”

If you’ve watched the show, you know that LeBron’s question is fair. But James isn’t exactly Roger Ebert, and Hwang Dong-hyuk told him exactly that in what’s probably the sickest burn that’s ever been levelled at the basketballer.
“Have you seen Space Jam 2?” he asked, “If he has his own ending that would satisfy him, maybe he could make his own sequel.” The tit-for-tat feels like schoolyard beef, which is fitting for a show about children’s games, but the retort didn’t stop there.
“I’ll check out [his show] and maybe send him a message saying, ‘I liked your whole show, except the ending.’”
Sheesh, Hwang, when is the diss track dropping?
