It’s no surprise that Skepta has been tapped for a Nike collaboration – he has been named by GQ as one of the UK’s best dressed men, while the strength of ‘Shutdown’ had everybody mimicking his sportswear-centric look in 2015. Furthermore, Skepta has spoken on the importance of Air Max in the grime circles alongside incoming Australian visitor Novelist, while he also performed at London’s Air Max 95 anniversary party last year.
Skepta took to Instagram to unveil his own ‘Blacklisted’ BW model, which came into fruition after Skepta traveled to Nike HQ in Oregon to meet with senior designers 49 weeks ago. Named after his 2012 mixtape, it’s a nocturnal, triple-black rendition of the Air Max favourite – and while it isn’t as eye-catching as Nike’s cheeky collaboration with fellow grime don Dizzee Rascal, we have a feeling that this understated and versatile rendition will be on the top of many wish lists.
With the BW also set to be resurrected in its original ‘Persian’ colourway in 2016, let’s hope that it’s a big year for the Big Window. Check out Skepta’s ominous sneaker below, which is definitely fit for the UK and beyond. We’re guessing that these will be worn with a full tracksuit and a dri-fit:
