You know childcare is straight up unaffordable when a family turns to a snake for their babysitting needs…

All of us have phobias that scare the absolute bejesus out of us. Spiders, heights, soggy bread, loud chewers (okay, maybe these are just mine) and the list goes on. But there’s something extra terrifying about snakes, as  NSW mother Allirra Lovelock found out the hard way this past Monday, finding a diamond python curled up in her baby’s bed in the South Coast suburb of Bodalla. First spotting the reptile “slither in” through the front door from outside the house, the mother in question reported crying for help and locking herself inside the bathroom (totally would’ve done the same), subsequently taking to social media with pleas for assistance.

“Is anyone good with snakes?” she wrote on Facebook. “I have a diamond python under my bed and I’m absolutely sh*t scared of snakes.”

Following her strategic retreat and unconventional Facebook advertisement, neighbours thankfully came knocking and assisted with removing the cold blooded terror out of her house, but not before it found its way to her infant daughters crib. Thankfully, however, it seems the baby was out of the house at the time, and the band of amateur snake catchers were able to remove her after a couple of hours of crisis.

Understandably, however, the mother in question is still just a bit traumatised from the whole encounter, going into absolute shock and proclaiming that she wants to “live in space” (if you’ve seen any alien movie, however, you’d know that there are probably far worse creepy crawlies up there) and is too scared to put her baby to sleep in her bed, despite the snake being “safely relocated onto a farm”.

Needless to say, if I ever find myself in Bodalla (where the whole incident went down) you can rest assured I’ll be locking ALL the doors and windows. Check out the python in the crib below for an extra fright for your Wednesday morning.
