I think we’re justified in saying that the hip hop world was left with a gaping hole in it after Mac Miller died almost three years ago. His genre-spanning artistry and skills as a rapper/ producer heralded by all in the industry as second to none. But most importantly, he just seemed like a straight up legend to work with, as evidenced in the numerous stories that have come to light since his passing.
Another one of those stories has arisen, this time from Guy Lawrence from groundbreaking EDM duo Disclosure. If you didn’t know, Guy produced ‘Blue World’ from Mac’s posthumous album Circles (which makes total sense once you think about it), and has now opened up on the process of working with Mac on the record.
Taking to Twitch for one of his countless track breakdowns, Guy captioned the video saying “Here is how I made Blue World with Mac Miller – it was such a pleasure to create this with one of the most talented, humble & kindest artists I have met to this day.
“Rest in peace Mac. Hope you all enjoy & learn something from this vid (excuse the Santa hat… it was Xmas eve haha) – Guy”
The vid sees him open up about meeting Mac in LA and gave a little background into what it was like in the studio, saying that Mac was “there to work” and didn’t mess around in the slightest. But alas, he of course mentions the straight up kind soul Mac was, and reaffirms that the industry lost one of its greatest talents when he passed.
He then goes into a bunch of super complex music stuff that is honestly beyond us, which just goes to show the kick ass producer that Guy is. Check out the full Twitch breakdown below.
