In a tale that could only happen in the Sunshine State, a Florida man was recently caught red-handed in a robbery attempt that can only be described as truly groundbreaking. In a stroke of, well, maybe old mate actually had a stroke, the suspect (identified as 33-year-old Claude Vincent Griffin) decided to wear a literal cardboard box as his disguise while breaking into a phone repair store in Miami Gardens.
The ordeal unfolded in the early hours of a Saturday morning when surveillance cameras captured the would-be criminal breaking open a glass case. With the finesse of a guy wearing a cardboard shell on his head, Vincent can be seen stuffing phones into his bag (almost $10,000USD worth), all the while oblivious to the fact that his makeshift helmet is slowly inching its way off his head in what’s one of the most high-profile unboxings in recent memory.
Thankfully, the owner of the store, Jeremias Berganza, was able to track down and identify Vincent after watching the crime unfold on camera. However, it seems he didn’t have to try to hard, with Vincent sticking around and getting a couple of afternoon bevs with his mates who were in the area. Eventually, he was arrested and charged with a bunch of counts including grand theft to cocaine possession, but we’re guessing this isn’t the last we’ve heard of boxman. Check out his full escapade below.
