Have a box of tissues ready…

It seems that Ryan Reynolds’ character Deadpool, in all of his ridiculousness, offensiveness and just straight up insanity, is speaking to the youth of 2021, helping them get through hard times with his distinct air of IDGAF. Naturally, you’d assume it’d stop there, that Reynolds would let Deadpool himself do all the work and kick back. But of course, Ryan Reynolds is no ordinary actor, and he’s proven that unlike the the majority of those in Hollywood, he’s actually got a heart.

The most recent example of this is a video message he recorded last week to a Deadpool super-fan. The fan in question is Brody Dery, an 11-year-old with stage 3B Hodgkins Lymphoma and Crohn’s disease. He’s been roughing it out as of late, but alas, Deadpool has been bringing him joy and distraction throughout his health struggles. It’s been so impactful for him that his mother, who left her job after Brody was diagnosed, watched the film right before Reynolds sent them a video message (I imagine she was shocked several times).

Talking directly to the camera while clad in some specs and a jumpsuit, Reynolds said to Brody “I just heard a little bit about your story and I wanted to send you this video and let you know that I’m thinking about you and I’m sending you tons of love and I’m sending you strength, whatever strength I’ve got.

“Man, you have a ton of people in your life that love you so much. I know you’ve been going through it, I know it’s been a challenge lately but you know something, Brody, you’re just the man for the job. So I’m sending you lots of love. I hope I get to meet you in person one of these days and hang in there.”

Of course, the video had a mad impact on Brody, with his mother telling the local news “He keeps saying, ‘I feel special – I feel like I’m the movie star.'”

Pretty damn wholesome right? Check the full video below.
