Innovative…

It’s no secret that people have been finding it hard to remember to social distance, getting up close and personal in each others private space and essentially ditching the recommended 1.5 metres. It seems Singapore isn’t having that problem however, with Robodogs being deployed all across the country to enforce social distancing.

The robotic, four-legged dogs named SPOT (anyone remember the children’s book with the pop-up pictures?) are being used in a two-week trial to “keep Singapore healthy” according to SPOT himself.

He’s definitely on it, with the robodog being able to warn people not to loiter in public and reminding people that “gatherings are not allowed”. Along with this, it also plays messages affirming the importance of social distancing. SPOT’s also been killing it in Singapore hospitals as well, being used to deliver medicine to contagious patients (and make their day while doing so we’re sure).

I guess desperate times call for desperate measures, with Singapore reporting over 20, 000 cases of COVID-19. As a result, they’ve been placed on lockdown until June 1, prohibiting people from leaving their homes except for essential travel, while making wearing a mask outside of the home mandatory.

So we totally get the unusual tactic, but safe to say it’s definitely one of the cuter ways we’ve seen of enforcing social distancing for sure. No doubt it’ll have amazing results…
