‘Broken Dreams’ is a collaboration between Local Artist Division and Take 3 – a not-for-profit organisation that encourages everybody to take three pieces of rubbish with them whenever they leave the beach, a waterway, or anywhere at all. In conjunction with the interests of both parties, they’ve curated a neat concept for ‘Broken Dreams’ – 16 artists flexing their creative skills on 16 broken surfboards, previously owned by professional surfers.
The art focuses on keeping oceans clean and sustainable for future generations and wildlife, and judging from the samples below, surfboards make for some awesome canvases! It all kicks off at Wild Things Gallery on February 26th from 5:00pm, with a launch party displaying the pieces alongside music, merchandise and beverages from Corona. If you can’t make it tomorrow night, head along to Stall 20 at Manly Beach, where ‘Broken Dreams’ will be showing from February 27th – March 5th during the Australian Open of Surf.
