It’s clear the issue of mask wearing is becoming increasingly more contentious in the U.S., with conflicting advice from the World Health Organisation & governing officials leading the nation to be rather polarised on the issue. As a result it’s made for some intense encounters, the latest coming out of a Costco store where a woman, being named “Costco Karen” on the internet, threw a tantrum and staged an apparent sit in after refusing to wear a face mask.
“I just need you to put that on for now while you’re in the building. That’s all,” an employee is heard telling the woman in the video. “Just temporarily while you’re in here, and then you can take it right back off.”
“I will not,” the woman is heard saying, before stating that the mask requirement is “your problem.” She then decides to sit on the ground in protest, partially blocking the store exist.
That didn’t stop the employee from going above and beyond for her however, with the worker saying “Can I get you a chair? Outside? There’s a place to sit.” But the lady wasn’t at all having it, saying “I am an American. I have constitutional rights.”
The hot encounter comes as COVID-19 cases around the U.S. continue to soar, with numerous states continuing to record highs for new daily cases. Doctors suspect that there are thousands more infected with the virus that have yet to be diagnosed. Its definitely a rough time for them. Check out full footage of the encounter below.
