In another instance of cryptocurrency rising to the forefront of monetary prominence, Bored Ape Yacht Club’s signature currency, ApeCoin, will now be accepted in Gucci stores, according to a statement from the luxury fashion house.
For a bit of backstory on the Bored Ape spin off, the coin was launched in March in order to bring to life metaverse opportunities centred around Yuga Labs’ Bored Ape Yacht Club, such as its forthcoming game Otherside. Adherents who owned a Bored Ape or Mutant Ape NFT when ApeCoin launched received tens of thousands of dollars worth of the offshoot at launch, following which the currency was adopted by the likes of crypto exchanges like Coinbase and Binance.
Now, the currency will join the likes of Bitcoin, Ethereal, Dogecoin, Shiba Inu, and Litecoinat, with all of the above having been accepted as payment in Gucci stores since May.
Now accepting @ApeCoin payments via @BitPay, select Gucci boutiques in the USA expand the range ofcryptocurrencies available for in-store purchases, yet another step in the House's exploration of Web3.

It’s another step forward by the fashion house toward advancing the NFT realm, the most prominence of which being the turning of its aria fashion collection into an NFT clip, which sold for $25,000 USD at Christies. Check out the NFT in question below, and next time you’re planning a shopping spree at Gucci (or at least daydreaming about doing so), be sure to get yourself some ApeCoin ahead of time.
