The metaverse continues to sell by the block each day, A-listers and crypto enthusiasts across the globe getting in on what’s fast becoming the next phase of everyday living. The latest of which is none other than skateboarding legend Tony Hawk, who has just announced Tony Hawk LAND – the metaverse’s new skatepark.
Created in conjunction with Autograph, the 6X6 attraction is set to be the largest virtual skatepark ever created and will incorporate 3D avatar NFTs based on his likeness along with his signature decks and fits; most notably the board he landed the hallowed 900 on at the 1999 X Games.
Speaking on the new venture, Hawk said in a statement, “I have been a fan of new technology all of my life, from the first video games and home computers with CGI capabilities so I am fascinated by the metaverse, and excited to bring our culture into the virtual landscape of The Sandbox.”
Looks like we’ll have a Tony Hawk’s Pro-Skater in the metaverse before we know it. Check out Tony Hawk LAND in action below.
Coming soon to The Sandbox: alongside @Autograph, I’m helping to create the biggest skatepark in the #metaverse. Stay tuned for updates. pic.twitter.com/0R2ODsR4qt
