From the corporate grind to cover-ready shoots.

After working on the corporate grind for many years, Los Angeles-based photographer Carianne Older knew she wanted something more. Being stuck behind a desk, she had only a lost and found camera, an emerging side hustle, and a desire to step out in confidence. As her illustrious career would soon prove, Carianne mastered all three.

I was so bored and had no hobbies at the time, except occasionally taking photos. I got a large holiday bonus one year and decided to bite the bullet and buy a really nice film camera, and the rest is history,” she says.

The transition from desk job to creative director must have involved a lot of hard work, but Carianne’s work radiates self-assuredness from both sides of the lens. Shooting everyone from Jordyn Woods to SZA, Carianne somehow manages to make her starry subjects shine even brighter. Eye-popping costumes and cover-ready set designs only add to the boldness of her shoots- something she’s worked hard to maintain throughout her career.

“[I] love being able to make people feel confident through the art of photography…Photography allows me to be as creative and as self expressive as I want,” Carianne says.

This self-expression is most clear in Carianne’s models- who seem to make the world their runway- but it’s also this confidence that has seen her work with some of the world’s biggest brands. Playboy, Puma and the photographer’s dream client Polaroid have all trusted her vision.

“I have great clients who hire me because they want what I have to offer them…it’s extremely special when [I] get to meet and connect with other artists,” she says.
