Party & Bullshit

We’re counting our lucky stars when it comes to Gang of Youths, because we’ve now photographed the burgeoning Sydney band three times in a fortnight.

First up was their gargantuan show at Splendour In The Grass‘ main stage, before last weekend’s much more intimate acoustic show celebrating the new Let Me Be Clear EP. Last night, Gang of Youths played a semi-surprise show at Newtown Social Club, with news of the gig only surfacing a few hours prior. Still, the hype was very real and manifested itself in lengthy queues that stretched outside the venue. For those who didn’t secure a spot inside, frontman Dave Le’aupepe made a serious claim for the nicest guy in rock when he performed a miniature solo set downstairs before the main event.

The show itself was everything that we expected: Cathartic, high-energy and much too turnt for a Tuesday. See all the pictures from Gang of Youths’ spontaneous show above, and prepare for a global Gang of Youths takeover with their sophomore album.
