Lucasfilm has finally released the trailer (and name) for the new Indiana Jones film, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.

It’s the fifth and final instalment of the saga, which began way back in 1981 with the Raiders of the Lost Ark. Directed by James Mangold, and with a script penned by Steven Spielberg (who’s also on board as producer), the film will see the return of Harrison Ford to play the iconic, titular character for the last time – and likely for his last ever film role.

It’s also set to be the final project of acclaimed composer John Williams (who scored all nine Star Wars films and the previous four Indiana Jones films, amongst many others). Interestingly, it’s the first film in the Indiana Jones series that wasn’t directed by Spielberg or written by George Lucas.

Set in 1960s New York, Dial of Destiny follows Dr Jones on one final adventure where he will face off against Nazis against the backdrop of the US-Soviet Union space race. One interesting nugget revealed in the trailer is that the film will feature a digitally de-aged Harrison Ford.

“This is the first time I’ve seen it where I believe it,” Ford said about the CGI. “It’s a little spooky. I don’t think I even want to know how it works, but it works. Doesn’t make me want to be young, though. I’m glad to have earned my age.”

Elsewhere, Ford praised the film, saying: “Indiana Jones movies are about mystery and adventure, but they’re also about heart, and I’m really, really happy that we have a really human story to tell, as well as a movie that will kick your ass.”

“This is it,” he added, confirming it would be his last appearance in the franchise. “I will not fall down for you again.”

The film stars the likes of Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Fleabag), Antonio Banderas (Pain and Glory), John Rhys-Davies (Raiders of the Lost Ark), Shaunette Renee Wilson (Black Panther), Mads Mikkelsen (Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore) and more.

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny is set to hit cinemas on the 30th of June, 2023. It will also be followed by a spinoff series on Disney+, which is currently in the works.
