Apple’s new iOS 14.5 is now available for iPhone owners, and it sees Apple totally go ham on the entertainment side of tech. Packed full of new features ranging from voice options for Siri to hundreds of new emojis, it seems the new instalment is one of Apple’s most extensive yet.
The new update has got a 2021 twist as well, with the Apple Watch now allowing owners to use Face ID to unlock their iPhones when their watch is unblocked, even if they’re wearing a mask. Specifically, the watch provides haptic feedback and indicates that the phone has been unlocked. The update also allows App Tracking Transparency for those of us that like our privacy, which allows users to tell developers whether or not the developer can track them.
Regarding Siri, you can now adjust the literal voice Siri speaks in through using Neural Text to Speech. Along with this, Siri will also be able to helm Group FaceTimes and announce incoming calls via AirPods or Beats. Apple Music has also gotten some fresh changes, with Chart-Toppers playlists for cities around the world being introduced. Now, listeners can see the top 25 tracks being played in places like New York, Paris, Tokyo and more.
Finally, the new update features a total of 217 new emojis, which offer new options for skin-tone variations in kissing couples along with other new additions like faces exhaling, a heart on fire and faces with spiral eyes. Apple has also updated the syringe emoji to remove any instances of blood for the faint of heart. Check out some of the new options below.
