US-based fast food chain Wendy’s has announced plans to expand to Australia…

The news comes after Wendy’s recent hire of the consultancy firm, DC Strategy, who are currently scouting the first-ever franchise down under. The fast food giant currently operates 7,000 stores worldwide, with the new Strategy partnership seeking to accelerate this growth across Australasia.

Wendy’s’ first Australian location has yet to be announced, but customers can rest assured that the chain’s staple menu items will be replicated with the expansion. The Wendy’s menu largely consists of burger meals, the most popular of which reads like a true American invention — the ‘Baconater’. Elsewhere, the menu includes sandwiches and french fries.

Among a smattering of spicy nugget and breakfast meals, Wendy’s is also known for its square-shaped burger patties, which have become synonymous with the chain. Wendy’s is the third-largest hamburger fast food eatery in the world, second only McDonald’s and Burger King.

The American restaurant’s Australian expansion follows the appearance of similar US chains throughout the country in recent years. In 2017, Taco Bell made it’s Australian debut across New South Wales and Brisbane, while popular LA burgeria In-N-Out launched a pop-up store in Sydney earlier this year.
