Renowned producer Dillon Francis has done just about everything there is to do in the music industry. Sold out tours, headline festivals and serve up platinum hits, the list goes on. So much so that if the man had a bucketlist, it’d be safe to assume it’s mostly ticked off. Today, however, the ‘Reaching Out’ producer has added another achievement to his resumè, signing a landmark residency deal in exchange for a Bored Ape NFT.
The deal in question is with Big Night, a nightlife and entertainment company in the US. Now, as a result of the recent deal, Francis will play an exclusive residency at several Big Night shows across the New England region, in exchange for a Bored Ape NFT (BAYC #378, to be exact). In addition to the residency, the deal also includes a record collab with electronic duo ESCAPΞPLAN, which also consists of two Bored Apes from the collection (ETHan #4321 and zeETH #309).
Although this may sound an unexpected move from Francis, it turns out he’s just a bit obsessed with the good old digital artworks, releasing an NFT music video last year with 3D artist Nicole Ruggiero along with dropping his own exclusive set of the non-fungible tokens.

It’s a pretty big move, especially as an NFT has never been placed at the centre of a contract like this before. But just going off the frequency with which celebs and artists are jumping on NFTs these days, we expect there to be plenty more similar deals in the near future. Check out Francis’ teaser of his upcoming collab with ESCAPΞPLAN below, and be sure to check out the interview we did with him last year here.
