Rivalling the ingenuity of her ex, Elon Musk’s former girlfriend is monetising their mid-90s relationship…

Elon Musk’s former girlfriend is auctioning off momentos from her relationship with the billionaire, dating back to the pair’s college years in the mid-90s. Jennifer Gwynne, who met Musk during his pre-Tesla days at the University of Pennsylvania, is selling a collection of photos and other memorabilia from their time together via Brooklyn-based auction site, RR Auction.

The cache includes 18 never-before-seen images of the tech mogul, a handwritten birthday letter, and a gold 14 karat necklace gifted to Gwynne by her then-boyfriend. The birthday card, which is signed with the valediction ‘Love Elon’, has attracted the highest bids, currently sitting at a $12,103 offer. Meanwhile, the necklace, which is adorned with an emerald sourced from Musk’s father’s jewel mine, is fetching $8,784 with 37 bids.

The collection elsewhere includes a one dollar bill signed by Musk, in amongst images of the nerdy-looking, soon-to-be billionaire. Gwynne is reportedly selling the momentos to raise funds for her stepson’s college tuition fees, and reflected on her ex-boyfriend’s interest in electric vehicles long before founding Tesla. “He would talk about electric cars, he would talk about alternative fuel sources,” she recalled.

While you can’t help but applaud Gwynne’s efforts (she almost makes the billionaire seem relatable), it goes without saying that even though it’s grossly overpriced, the sale of the momentos is but a drop in Musk’s wealth ocean. The world’s richest man, his net worth currently stands at $241 billion. Pocket change.
