Justin Roiland, Rick and Morty co-creator and the voice behind the two lead characters, Rick Sanchez and Morty Smith, has officially been sacked from the show’s cable television channel Adult Swim.
It comes after it was revealed that Roiland had been charged with felony domestic violence and false imprisonment in relation to a 2020 incident, in which Roiland was accused of violent conduct against Jane Doe, his partner at the time.

Taking to social media, Adult Swim announced the news, while confirming that the show would continue without Roiland, with the crew “currently hard at work on Season 7”. The show is scheduled to run until at least Season 10, with Dan Harmon now the sole creator. Perhaps most notably, the voices for the titular characters, Rick and Morty, are now set to be re-cast.
The future of Rick and Morty looks pretty murky right now, but with the absence of one of its co-creators and the re-casting of Rick and Morty, the show is certainly in for some major changes.

A casting director somewhere is about to hear a lot of bad Rick and Morty impressions. Godspeed.
